AED 730 assistance for Filipinos can accommodate 10,000 more OFWs in Dubai & Northern Emirates

The DOLE-AKAP program in Dubai & Northern Emirates was suspended last May 11, 2020 by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office – Dubai and Northern Emirates (POLO-Dubai) due to the availability of funds. But after the Philippine government injected new funding, it has now been reopened so Filipinos in Dubai & Northern Emirates who have been displaced from their jobs due to the virus, you can apply for the said program.

DOLE-AKAP is a program wherein OFWs affected by the virus can receive a one-time financial assistance worth 10,000 Philippine Pesos (AED 730). However, this program was suspended due to the availability of funds.

In an advisory shared by POLO-Dubai, they mentioned that 56,450 applications have been received by POLO Dubai from April 10 to May 11, 2020.

As of May 24, 2020, around 23,000 applications have been processed and about 7000 applications have been approved. 5,361 OFWs have received the one-time financial assistance.

While the first applications are still being studied, OFWs who have not yet applied can fill up the form from the POLO Dubai website – http://www.polodubaiportal.org/dole-akap-for-ofws-in-dubai-and-northern-emirates/

POLO-Dubai also mentions that aside from the 7,000 approved applications, the additional funding can accommodate 10,000 Filipinos in Dubai & NE. The applications will be processed on a First Come, First Served basis.
