UAE Emergency Telephone Numbers

The government of the UAE has given a list of emergency numbers in case you need them during road accidents, fire, medical emergency, marine accident, injury or death at the workplace, natural calamities, and many more. General Emergency Numbers You Can Contact Anywhere, Anytime

  • 999 for Police
  • 998 for Ambulance
  • 997 for Fire Department (Civil Defence)

  • 911 for electricity failure

National Early Warning System

Also called the EWS project, this was launched in 2017 to protect all individuals, including expats, in the UAE. This will involve sending you a text message in order to give warnings about the dangerous weather or remind you to follow safety procedures.

Reminders During Medical Emergencies

  • During medical emergencies, the first thing you have to do is to calm down. Your panic will only cause additional trouble.
  • Next, call the ambulance on 998. This should work anywhere in the UAE. An air ambulance can also be used if it’s necessary.
  • The hospitals in the country can handle any medical emergency. They will admit you for initial treatment and transfer you to a hospital with better equipment if needed.
  • The UAE also provides standard medical care. Any guest or visitor can obtain medical treatment from public or private hospitals. The treatment of stabilization is usually free in case of emergencies. However, other treatments should be paid in cash, credit cards, or insurance.

Reminders During Road Accidents

  • During road accidents, you don’t have to panic. You can call 999 immediately so that a police respondent will come to you.
  • If the accident is minor only and no one is hurt, you should be able to move your car to the should lane so as to avoid traffic. Wait for a police and keep a 15-meter distance from your car.
  • If there is anyone who is hurt, do not move the cars. Leave them where they are and wait for the police and ambulance to arrive.
  • If there is a collision, there is an automatic eCall system that will report the incident. The emergency center nearest to the location of the incident will dispatch a medical team as soon as possible.

Reminder During Fire Emergencies

  • Call the civil defense on 997. It should work anywhere in the UAE.
  • Leave the place immediately. There are fire exits in the building. Use those doors.
  • Do not rush and reach the fire exits calmly.
  • Do not stay behind just to gather all your stuff.
  • Close the doors as you leave if possible. This is so you can prevent the fire from spreading.
  • No use of lifts or elevators during fire.
  • Put off the fire using fire extinguishers but do not risk your life.
  • No returning to the building until the authorities declare its safety.

Reminder In Case Of Injury Or Death At Workplace

  • The employers should be the ones the report the incident to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation within 24 hours.
  • The employers should call 80060 or email wiis@mol.gov.ae.
  • The name, labour card number, date of injury, property number, and emergency phone numbers of the person involved in the incident should be provided.
  • The employers should also provide details if the employee is absent for 3 days or more due to the work-related injury, if the employee is injured or died during work or during a commute, and if the worker has contracted a disease.

Reminder For People Of Determination

  • They must send an SMS to 5999 with the information about the incident, location of the patient, and a phone number that can be used by the police to contact anyone.
